Corrosion Resistance
ASTM A234 Gr WP12 Pipe Fittings offer excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and high-temperature corrosion. The chromium-molybdenum composition enhances resistance to scaling and corrosive flue gases, making them ideal for furnace and heat exchanger applications.
Heat Resistance
With the addition of chromium and molybdenum, ASTM A234 WP12 fittings maintain mechanical stability and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 600°C (1110°F). These fittings are ideal for superheaters, reheaters, and other high-temperature pipelines.
Heat Treatment
ASTM A234 Gr WP12 fittings are typically normalized and tempered or quenched and tempered to improve mechanical strength and toughness. The heat treatment process enhances grain refinement, hardness uniformity, and thermal fatigue resistance.
Welding
ASTM A234 WP12 fittings are readily weldable using standard welding methods such as GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and MIG processes. Preheating before welding and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) are recommended to prevent cracking and ensure optimum joint strength.
Fabrication
These fittings can be machined, bent, and formed easily using standard alloy steel fabrication techniques. They offer excellent formability and dimensional stability, ensuring precise installation in critical piping systems.
