Corrosion Resistance

MSS SP 75 WPHY 70 Pipe Fittings exhibit good corrosion resistance in mild atmospheric and industrial environments. For aggressive conditions, protective coatings such as black paint, epoxy, or galvanization are applied. These coatings enhance the longevity of the fittings by preventing oxidation and rust formation.

Heat Resistance

These fittings can withstand elevated temperatures up to 600°F (315°C) without loss of mechanical strength. However, for long-term high-temperature exposure, post-weld heat treatment is advised to preserve toughness and avoid brittleness.

Heat Treatment

  • Normalized: Refines the microstructure and improves ductility.

  • Quenched and Tempered: Enhances mechanical strength and toughness.

  • Stress Relieving: Reduces residual stress after forming and welding operations.

All fittings are heat-treated in compliance with MSS SP 75 and ASTM A860 requirements.

Welding

MSS SP 75 WPHY 70 fittings possess excellent weldability with all conventional methods like MIG, TIG, and SMAW. Preheating (150–200°C) before welding and Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) after welding are recommended to ensure weld integrity and minimize internal stresses.

Fabrication

These fittings can be hot-formed or cold-formed and are easily machinable. After fabrication, the fittings undergo required heat treatment to restore strength and grain structure. Emirerri Steel ensures precision manufacturing for leak-proof and high-strength assemblies.
