Corrosion Resistance

ASTM A420 WPL6 Pipe Fittings exhibit moderate corrosion resistance in water, steam, and atmospheric environments. When used in corrosive or moist conditions, external surfaces are often painted, epoxy coated, or galvanized for enhanced protection. These fittings perform effectively when paired with proper insulation in cryogenic and low-temperature systems.

Heat Resistance

WPL6 fittings maintain excellent strength and impact resistance in low to moderate temperatures, up to approximately 450°C (840°F). However, they are specifically optimized for low-temperature performance, ensuring no embrittlement or cracking at subzero temperatures.

Heat Treatment

  • Normalized: Enhances ductility and refines grain structure

  • Quenched and Tempered: Improves toughness and strength

  • Stress Relieved: Removes internal stresses post forming or welding

All fittings are heat-treated as per ASTM A420 / ASME SA420 requirements to ensure consistent mechanical performance.

Welding

ASTM A420 WPL6 Pipe Fittings possess excellent weldability with all conventional methods including MIG, TIG, and SMAW. Preheating (100–150°C) is recommended before welding, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) may be applied depending on the service condition and thickness.

Fabrication
