ASTM B466 C71000 Copper Nickel Alloy ( UNS C71000 )
ASTM B466 C71000 (UNS C71000) is a high-nickel copper alloy specified under ASTM B466 for seamless copper-nickel pipe and tube. Commonly known as Copper Nickel 80/20, this alloy contains approximately 80% copper and 20% nickel, delivering superior strength and excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, erosion, and biofouling compared to lower-nickel Cu-Ni grades. It is widely used in demanding marine, offshore, and heat transfer applications.
Key Features
- Excellent resistance to seawater and brackish water corrosion
- Higher strength than 90/10 copper-nickel alloys
- Superior resistance to erosion and biofouling
- Good thermal conductivity for heat exchangers
- Excellent weldability and fabrication properties
- Long service life in aggressive environments
