About ASTM A249 / ASME SA249
ASTM A249 / ASME SA249 is the standard specification for welded tubes of nominal wall thickness and heavily cold-worked welded tubes made from austenitic stainless steels.
The tubes are manufactured for pressure equipment and high-temperature service.
Supplied in multiple grades, they provide excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability.

Types of ASTM A249 Stainless Steel Tube
Welded Tubes – Produced by welding stainless steel strips, suitable for general service and moderate temperature use.
Heavily Cold Worked Tubes – Subjected to additional cold working to enhance mechanical strength and dimensional accuracy.
Seamless Equivalent (on demand) – Although A249 primarily covers welded tubes, seamless alternatives (like ASTM A213) are supplied for critical high-pressure applications.
Polished Tubes – With surface finishes such as mirror, satin, or matte polish, ideal for decorative and sanitary industries.
Heat Exchanger Tubes – Designed specifically for condensers, boilers, and heat exchangers, ensuring efficient heat transfer.
