Monel K500 Pipe Fittings are manufactured from a high-strength nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with enhanced mechanical properties due to the addition of aluminum and titanium. Through age-hardening (precipitation hardening), Monel K500 (UNS N05500) achieves exceptional strength, hardness, and toughness, making it ideal for high-stress and high-temperature industrial applications.

These fittings exhibit outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, chemical attack, erosion, and cavitation. Monel K500 Pipe Fittings maintain their performance even in sub-zero temperatures and elevated service conditions up to 1200°F (648°C). Their superior durability, combined with excellent weldability and formability, makes them a preferred choice in offshore engineering, chemical processing, pump shafts, valves, and petrochemical applications.

Corrosion Resistance

Monel K500 provides excellent resistance against:

  • Seawater, saltwater & marine environments

  • Stress corrosion cracking in most environments

  • Non-oxidizing acids & alkalis

  • Erosion and cavitation

  • Hydrofluoric & sulfuric acids (under controlled conditions)

  • Sour gas environments (H₂S)

It offers improved resistance to cavitation corrosion compared to Monel 400.

Heat Resistance

  • Suitable for service temperatures up to 1200°F (648°C)

  • Maintains strength at elevated temperatures

  • Outstanding oxidation resistance

  • Performs well in cryogenic (-200°C) conditions

Heat Treatment

Monel K500 undergoes precipitation hardening:

  • Solution Annealing: 980°C

  • Quenching: Rapid cool

  • Age Hardening: 595°C – 605°C

Welding

Monel K500 can be welded using:

  • TIG (GTAW)

  • MIG (GMAW)

  • SMAW

Important Notes:

  • Prevent excessive heat input

  • Welds are not age-hardenable

  • Use suitable filler metal such as ENiCu-7 (Monel 400 filler)

  • Post-weld stress relief may be required for critical components
