ASTM A513 4140
ASTM A513 Grade 4140 is a high-strength chromium-molybdenum alloy steel commonly used for mechanical tubing applications requiring exceptional toughness, wear resistance, and load-bearing capacity. Produced through ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) or DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel), ASTM A513 4140 offers superior dimensional accuracy, machinability, and consistent microstructure.
Because of its outstanding hardenability and mechanical properties, it is widely used in heavy machinery, automotive components, hydraulic cylinders, precision equipment, and industrial engineering applications.
Key Features
- High Tensile & Yield Strength suitable for demanding load conditions
- Excellent Wear & Fatigue Resistance due to Cr-Mo alloy content
- Superior Machinability & Heat Treatability
- Outstanding Hardenability enables quenching and tempering
- Enhanced Dimensional Accuracy in DOM tubing
- Strong Impact Resistance even under dynamic loads
- Good Weldability (with proper preheat and post-weld treatment)
