ASTM A513
ASTM A513 Seamless Steel Tube
At Emirerri Steel, we supply and export high-quality ASTM A513 Seamless Steel Tubes, manufactured to meet international standards for mechanical tubing applications. Known for their strength, precision, and durability, these tubes are commonly used in the manufacturing of automotive, structural, agricultural, and industrial equipment.

What is ASTM A513 Seamless Steel Tube?
ASTM A513 is the standard specification covering electric-resistance-welded (ERW) and seamless carbon steel mechanical tubing. While ERW is widely used, the seamless variant is preferred for applications requiring superior dimensional accuracy, strength, and pressure resistance.
These tubes are produced in round, square, and rectangular shapes, making them versatile for multiple engineering and structural uses.
Key Features
- Seamless for superior strength & performance
- Available in round, square, and rectangular sections
- High machinability, weldability, and precision
- Wide range of types & grades for diverse applications
- Excellent dimensional accuracy and finish
ASTM A513 Types
Type 1 (As-Welded from Hot-Rolled Steel):
Type 1A: As-welded, mill scale on the surface.
Type 1B: As-welded, pickled & oiled for a cleaner finish.
Type 2 (As-Welded from Cold-Rolled Steel):
Made from cold-rolled steel with tighter tolerances and better surface finish, ideal for applications requiring smooth, clean surfaces.Type 3 (Sink-Drawn from Hot-Rolled Steel):
Tubing drawn without a mandrel from hot-rolled steel for closer dimensional tolerances.Type 4 (Sink-Drawn from Cold-Rolled Steel):
Similar to Type 3 but cold-rolled, resulting in tighter tolerances and superior surface finish.Type 5 (Drawn Over Mandrel – DOM):
Highly precise tubing, cold-drawn over a mandrel after welding. Provides tight dimensional tolerances and uniform grain structure. Common in high-precision applications.Type 6 (Special Smooth Inside Diameter – SSID):
Processed for an extra-smooth internal surface, suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
ASTM A513 Grades
Common Carbon Steel Grades
1008: Low-carbon steel with excellent formability & ductility.
1010: Popular low-carbon grade with good weldability & machinability.
1015: Slightly higher carbon content than 1010, giving increased strength.
1020: Balanced grade offering strength and ductility.
1026: Medium-carbon grade with greater hardness & strength.
Common Alloy Steel Grades
4130 (Chromoly): Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel with high strength & weldability. Used in bicycle frames, roll cages, and aircraft parts.
4140 (Chromoly): A stronger chromium-molybdenum steel with excellent fatigue and impact resistance.
8620: Low-alloy steel with high case hardenability, ideal for gears, shafts, and parts needing a hard surface & tough core.
